I stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel recently and they did something quite astonishing at check-in. I’ll spill the details in this episode. This week sees the release of “The Worst Case Business Survival Guide” by Mark Joyner, and I co-wrote one of the chapters. Available now from your local book store, or Amazon.
The question for this episode is all about how to acquire sponsors, so if you’d like to know my suggestions for doing just that, tune in.
I’ve discovered a useful outsourcing resource called www.WeLive2Care.com – I’ve used them for various VA type tasks including writing, research etc, and I’m happy to recommend them to you.
The BIG marketing lesson is from Haagen Dazs. Specifically, they used a coupon that had a specific design. You can copy and adapt the same idea to use in your business, watch the show to find out how.
Let me know your opinion about the topics covered in the show this week – leave your comment below, it’s really easy to do.
Enjoy the show!

Andrew,
Great show, I started using 100 bill coupons a year or so ago, I often include them with a thankyou card after we have been paid on a job (picked that up from an earlier episode) I was surprised at the positive feed back from the coupons (who doesn’t like 100 dollars) but I was also surprised at how many people like to play around with them and don’t actually send them back with the check on their next job! I guess the novelty of them is as valuable as the 100 dollar face value. I got them at http://www.realisticdropcard.com I searched a few and these are realistic down to the paper and only about 15 bucks for 100 I think. I believe you can do different bills if 100 is too much. They make great tips at the coffee shop, might let down a few coffee shop employees but they laugh and leave them in the tip jar till someone swipes it. One guy told me “sir I cant accept that, it’s too much”.

Hi Andrew, another great show. I have been wondering what this Grasshopper company was all about – I will now go and give it a look.
Also, creating a coupon or flying to look like money is a brilliant idea – I will use this immediately.
Thanks again.

Andrew has, hands down, the best advice in all of iTunes business section. It is concise and entertaining. Andrew, thanks so much for coming to the States and all you do to help us out. I tell EVERYONE I know who is in business to watch your podcast!

Nice show.
I am trying to purchase your webtvshow course and sent an email asking for something. Does anyone work in the customer service or maybe the email is outdated? I have not heard a response and I would consider myself to be in ‘buying’ mode.
October 21st, 2009 at 1:47 pm
Tony,
Glad to hear you’ll be implementing the money principle.
Jean,
I didn’t know the background of Grasshopper, I too find them to be excellent.
VLH,
Thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate you referring others, too.
AR,
I’m sorry that you have not received a reply to your email. I’m not sure when you sent the email but you can expect to receive a response back the same day. If that’s not the case, I would resend the message because emails often get wrongly deleted by spam filters.
FYI, the customer support email address is:
support@helpmybusiness.com
Alternatively, you can ask your question here and I’ll be happy to answer it for you directly.

Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Today’s show was one of the best I’ve seen about useful stuff I can use. I started using a $1,000,000 dollar bill two years ago. I send them out for various occassions but my original use was in thank you cards with the heading Thanks A Million.
I am a subscriber to John Jonas’ “and his advise on outsourcing to the Philippines is great. I’m going to check out We Live2Care right now. I like the fact that they manage your accounts.
Thanks again and hope to see you again real soon.
Best Regards,
Hal

Didn´t you use that shirt in another show? or was it the message?. Well. I had some troubles downloading the show by Itunes. I already reported the problem.
I am glad you recovered quickly after the heavy weight boxing match of episode 77. You received several punches, but some of your fans supported you. You also demonstrated you are a professional and came back with the new shows: I called a it a draw. Keep the good work.

Today’s show was very informative. We checked out the Grasshopper site and it really does have a lot of useful features. Especially the faxing function. We currently use Toktumi which is fine. It is $14.95 a month but doesn’t seem to have the features that Grasshopper offers. They offer the faxing feature but charge an extra $9.95 and it is a part of eFax. We are currently reviewing more about Grasshopper and look forward to using it. Thank you so much for the information!!!

okay thanks. I had previously sent it to customerservicezone@gmail.com. I sent it to the new address.
October 21st, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Philip,
Don’t forget to enter the code: “help my business sucks” in the comments box when you setup your new account with Grasshopper.
They’ll credit you with $50!

I found this really interesting and informative to watch! Its got the useful information that would help most people. Coupons with ‘cash value’ are just a great idea, because it gives them a reason to look forward and to return to ones business. I tried them at work and our clients loved it! Thank Andrew for the fantastic information!

Andrew Lock: I don’t think my emails are getting through to your end. I have sent email from both gmail and another account and still no response (been over a day now).
The question is a bit personal which is why I don’t want to ask it here. Let me know what I should do.

When my business was selling jewelry retail, I would get a stack of high denomination foreign money (one time with Saddam Hussein’s face on it). I chose ten of the serial numbers that would win ten prizes. Then I sent out the bills to my customer attached to a flyer saying “This bill may be worth $1000 in Iraq but its also worth XXX amount at W.R.Bray Co. Bring in the bill and we will check the serial number with a list we have in the store and you may win a valuable prize.
The bills can be purchased from coin dealers ( I got mine from one in FLA) and are inexpensive. I also had a stack of neat ones to give out to kids when they came in too.

Great tip Bill, I really like that idea.

This show was indeed a piece of big marketing lesson. Andrew’s presentation was so much engrossing. Thanks Andrew. I could gather knowledge about some very useful websites and I surely would visit to gain some detailed information to enhance my business strategy. I also had a lot of questions in my mind which were automatically answered by ‘ASK ANDREW’.
Your advice is simply a great help. There are certain examples like how to use the appearance of the currency bill to obtain a lasting effect on human mind, are wonderful.
I would definitely watch this show regularly.

Thank you for the great tips! I am currently starting my own business and this is helpful. I’m sorry you had a bad LVH experience. I have been a happy customer for years. Maybe they need to be given a second chance.

October 26th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
Paul,
i’m not sure when you looked at the site last but there are new episodes each week.
We are redesigning some aspects of the site based on feedback, but it’s a big project, with 8 shows to produce on a weekly basis on a limited budget.
Thank you for your patience, we’re still in a BETA stage of launch.
