A bumper show for you this week…

I talk about how AEG Live turned lemons into lemonade with the Michael Jackson concerts. They stood to lose more than 80 million dollars in ticket sales, (which, incidentally is more than I make in a month ;) ) but they’ve quickly transformed their business in a dramatic way.  Last week, they collected more than 1.6 million names and email addresses of Michael Jackson fans – that is EXTREMELY valuable alone.

My magical mastermind experience has been finalized, and YOU now have an opportunity to be part of the group for the new season from July 2009 for the next 12 months (more details here)

THE COMPETITION

I explain how to enter the competition in this week’s video, and as a reminder here’s the 3 questions you need to answer:

1. What business are you in?

2. What marketing ideas have you learned and implemented from watching the show, and what have the results been?

3. Why are you a good candidate for the Magical Mastermind Experience over the next 12 months?

To enter, post your reply as a comment on this blog (scroll down this page).

Carlos Menendez wrote and asked for tips about creating an effective TV commercial, so I’m happy to oblige with 4 essential components.

Ever get frustrated at trying to remember your login details and passwords for all the websites you visit?  Worry no longer because I have a very cool nifty click resource for you, and it’s free!

Lastly, DirecTV show us how to expand our business into other areas.  You might be surprised at who they’re attracting as clients for their satellite TV service…

Enjoy the show!

  1. One more thing…

PLEASE read the questions for the competition carefully, and make sure your answers cover the 3 questions, otherwise your entry won’t be valid, sorry ;)

  3. woohoo!!! I’m freakin famous!!! I win!

  4. Andrew, with regard to the Nifty click, an alternative method for managing lots of different passwords is to think up a password scheme. For example you could pick your brothers name and his birth year so your password would be Fred1974XX where XX are the first two letters of the website name you are logging in to. Adding the XX letters makes the password unique at every site, but still something that you can easily remember.

  5. Hi Andrew

Great show and has got to be the best yet, congartulations Tony, I still can’t beleive you only live around the corner.

Okay me three answers for the mastermind:-

    1) I am in the very competitive internet marketing and coaching business, and loving every minute of it.

    2) The biggest lesson the show has taught me is to create my very own web TV show.
With the challenges of e-mail marketing and serious competition in my industry, I have been absolutley staggered by the dramatic results my own TV show has created in a short space of time.
My conversion rates on my personal coaching program have more than doubled from any previous attempts.

    3) I have a vast knowledge of internet marketing strategies and systems, which have been succesfully tested not only with information and coaching products, but also with real physical catalogue style products, such as my previous online business which sold prescription eyewear, probably one of the most complicated products you could sell online.

  6. Hi Andrew;

I have followed you for a long time and am amazed at your workload. What impresses me most however is your transition from fairly shy limey (I’m a limey too so I am allowed to say that!) to a polished presenter. At one of your early seminars you said ‘ I’m not a professional speaker’. How did you make the transition? I have just presented to a group of 50 and it wasn’t too bad, but I would like to know your secret so that I can get over TV nerves and create my own video series.

  7. David Adams says:

I can only hope that the waiting room cahnged in a “I don’t mind waiting room” was for a Chiropractor.
The all seemed to be craning their heads to the side and up to the screen. Not the most comfortable way to watch TV, but a good way for a Chiropractor to get some extra business.

  8. David Adams says:

Andrew I found your 4 points spot on and interesting.
I work in the media in Australia and we often use the 5 C’s.
    It has to be Creative.
It needs to Capture interest and attention.
It must have a Consumer benefit.
It needs to have a Call to action (eg Stock is limited, last 5 days etc.)
and finally it must be Cost effective.
So with your 4 and these 5 if it ticks all the boxes it will surly be a winning Ad.

  10. Hi Andrew,
I would like to be a part of your Magical Mastermind Group because I have great abilities, great products, great ideas and my goal is to help change the world for the better. However, I still have to implement all those things into a more successful business. I am a solo practitioner.

    My answers are:
    1. I am in the alternative health care field, providing Emotional Freedom Technique, (EFT), Hypnosis and Presence work for people who have emotional problems. I strongly believe this type of work will help change the world, which is my goal.

    2. I have learned from your show (you answered my question recently) how to cross-promote my two books. I’ve already made up post cards with the cover of each book on one side and a description of the contents on the other side and slip one into each book as they’re sent out. Both books relate to each other this way and augment sales of each with the other. I think this will work out very well. Thanks for the idea.

    3. I believe I should be considered for your Mastermind group because I am conguent with you and what you’re doing in many ways. You’re already changing the world with your show and I know you have even bigger plans for it in the future. I want to interact with you and others to help change the world even more in my field. I have already started shooting videos, but want to do them better so I can share what I have learned with more people around the world. I know that by interacting with other “Magical Minds” such as your’s and others in the group, I will have much more to offer the world.
I also have a lot to offer the group, since I have written one book entirely on marketing ideas and the other on how to open a business. I also have a lot of experience to offer others as well.

    4. Last, but not least, I enjoy watching you and your show. I have a strong affinity to what you are sharing and how you present things. I believe once you meet me, you’ll feel the same about me. I know I can be of benefit to the group as well as learn a great deal from the group.

  11. im a nub to this type of stuff, but i found it to be very resourceful……i might be back!!!

  12. Two comments about DirecTV.

    1. I just had a DVR added to my service this morning. The technician was great, but the order takers/schedulers REALLY suck. It took them 3 tries to get the technician sent out with the correct order and equipment!

    2. I’d rather sit quietly in a waiting room and maybe scan a magazine that I don’t subscribe to rather than be bombarded with the drivel that now passes for TV programming. It is an insult to my intelligence:(

  13. Sivaramakrishnan says:

The show was really cool and useful. Being a businessman myself, I really appreciate your idea. But for this I should work on removing my stage fear, so that mine will at least be half impressive as yours is.

  14. Andrew,

I met you @ Tribal Marketing in Chicago about 2 months back. Your site is AMAZING. I love what I am learning from you….marketing is everything!!! I live and dream that line…

    1. I own a Web Video Company. We provide Professional Video Services for small to mid size business. We started out in Health Care…
    2. How to compete against a well known company. I was persistent, and asked for the deal. I was able to respond faster and was literally the face of my company.
    3. We’ve seen a 200% increase in our business over 2008. We’ve been in business for 4 years with growth every year. I need to be mentored by a genius like you that is funny and knows his stuff. We are in growth mode, I need to be in a Mastermind group that wants to see our business succeed. Looking forward to be selected!
    Thanks and Regards,
    Thomas

  15. I was hoping you would look at a comercail I had ran in the past and am wanting to run her soon. Based on you information you offered today can you give me your thoughts?
If so where do I email the commercail?
    Thank you
    Sean

  16. John Gauthier says:

Great show, very interesting about AEG. Real smart guys. Creative marketing saved them big time, kind of ironic that something bad like Michael Jackson’s death could turn out to be so positive for them.

  17. Testimonials is a huge key. Without them you want sell anything.

  18. Andrew, I enjoyed your show. It is very informative but not boring. I find your show very interesting and important to watch for personally as a student majoring in business.

  19. Hi Andrew,

I would like to enter to be a part of the Magical Mastermind Group.

    1. I am in the media business with a niche in the southern gospel music industry. We have a couple of websites and one has the number 1 Google listing for my niche market, we also publish a monthly digital magazine and operate a digital music delivery service that provides music to radio stations for broadcast purposes. We also launched a social networking site on January 25th and we now have just over 2900 members.

    2. Andrew I honestly don’t know where to begin in sharing everything I have gleaned from your weekly shows that I now use in my own business. The launch of the social networking site is the most recent example. Carving out a niche market and then using tools like blogs, email marketing and social networking sites has really paid off. Your idea of posting quality information on other blogs has really helped to drive interest in my own sites and now I am being asked to speak at seminars myself. Last year I did my first one and it was a great success. In fact the group that invited me last year is paying my way again this year and I have been asked to host an awards show for them as well. I guess if I had to narrow it down to just one thing that I count as my most valuable lesson from Andrew Lock…. Testimonials. Hands down the most effective and yet overlooked item in building my business.

    3. I’d like to join in the group so I could continue learning in a more structured fashion. I enjoy challenges and finding ways to improve processes and brainstorming with others but I find it difficult to do so within my own industry as so many of my ideas have been “borrowed” that I tend to be very reluctant to share them anymore. I’m a 1 person shop and I value greatly sharing tools and ideas that can make me more effective and productive and bring more value to the users of my services.

And hey! I’m just thrilled each week when I get my “NEW EPISODE” notice! So thanks Andrew!! You have already given us all some wonderful information!

  20. i like it very much he say’s the latest information and business offers i congratulate tony who won
    last week competition

  21. 1. I am in the business of helping intelligent and hard-working men and women uncover why their current diet and exercise program is not working for them despite their efforts. http://www.fatisnotyourfault.com and http://www.thefatlossdoc.com

    2. Among the most valuable lessons have been the subtle ones. They make a strongest impact, require the least time investment and set our business apart from the others. The “Thank You” card you received is something we tried in our physical business. We sent a hand written “Thank You”, offered 10% off our customer’s next visit and had a 50% response rate to our offer. Awesome, yet so simple, effective and something no other business is doing.

Even if I haven’t yet used a tip you provide, the most valuable are the ones where you, Andrew, receive or observe something from your everyday life and share it on your show (i.e. why a certain menu is effective, using plastic cards instead of coupons, or which business names are effective and why.)

    3. Why should I be considered for the group? Because Fat Is Not Your Fault is THE missing link in the fitness and nutrition industry and as a one man show, I have yet to fully capitalize on the potential it truly has. I want to get my business off the ground so I can participate in Mastermind groups without having to enter a contest to do so.

Thanks for this opportunity, Andrew. In an industry of sometimes questionable motives and shady practices, you stand above so many others, are the real deal and as I said to you at a live event once, I believe what you’re doing will make you one of the Dan Kennedy’s of the future. Congrats on your success and thank you for everything you share to the world.

  22. I thought this video was hilarious yet clever. This video gave plenty of good ideas with its humor added as well.

  23. Hey Andrew

Great show, Thanks for sharing the Nifty Click site with us that surely will help remembering all those passwords.

BTW You Twit Face that’s hilarious ;)

  24. 1. What business are you in?
My wife and I are the inventors of BOX4BLOX, an innovative storage solution for keeping children’s Lego sorted and organized. We live in New Zealand, but we manufacture our invention in California and sell it exclusively online, targeting customers in the United States, via our web site http://www.box4blox.com
I also have an electrical business, which I am totally sick and tired of, because all I dream of all day is becoming a full time internet marketing entrepreneur, marketing the BOX4BLOX to the millions of Moms and Dads that need to know about our great invention.
We have sold over 15,000 units in the States so far, and most of our traffic is from word-of-mouth sales, but when it comes to proper marketing we are just scratching the surface. Our site does convert really well, but we need to increase our traffic. I have spent the last few years reading everything I can on Internet marketing, and while I understand what needs to be done, I am really struggling with the implementation and really do need some expert guidance.
Yes, I know it sounds pathetic, but I am 55 years old, and the technical side of things scares me a bit and I need my hand held. 

    2. What marketing ideas have you learned and implemented from watching the show, and what have the results been?
The biggest marketing idea I have learnt from your show has been implementing video to show the BOX4BLOX in action, which has improved our conversions markedly. I know it would sound a lot better with a female American Mom accent rather than my flat Kiwi accent, but we are on a budget 

    3. Why are you a good candidate for the Magical Mastermind Experience over the next 12 months?

I am a good candidate for your MME, because you will never get someone more focused on wanting to succeed ( I really am sick and tired of being a sparkie!) I am 55 years old and have invested my livelihood into our invention and setting up our manufacturing and distribution infrastructure in the United States. I am willing to travel to the States from New Zealand to be involved on the occasions that warrant it (no I haven’t asked my wife yet) and just think of the great PR that both our businesses will receive when I am successful.

PS. Can I bring my golf clubs when I come to the States

  25. This video was really very informative and i liked it very much. It really offered plenty of good and useful ideas. I enjoyed this show.

  26. This video was really fantastic and very really will wake up many people. The tips were really mind blowing. I feel that i really had good time watching this video. It really carried very useful information.

  27. This video sounds like something really good stuff. It was really worth watching. Surely everyone watching this video would have gained good ideas. It was something that every one must watch.

  28. After watching this video i really feel that i had spend a very good and useful 10 minutes. It was something amazing with lots of good ideas. I really had good time watching to this video.

  29. Thank you Andrew. I have had my business on hold for a couple of years no sure what direction I wanted to go in. Your site provides great information to get back into it full force!

    All the Best
    Kelli

  30. Thanks for the opportunity to compete for your final sopt of THe Magical Mastermind Group.

    1. I am in the business of marketing mortgage services in which I have created niches in first-time home buyers, divorce and platform speaking (among many other minor specialities)to take myself away from being a commodity business to be a specialist which separates myself from my competition.

I also am an Independent Business Advisor for The Galzer-Kennedy Insider’s Circle helping business professionals make their own businesses special.

Additionally, I am starting up 2 new ventures in the exterme sports category (which I have tremendous passion for) and cancer support category (as I have a several people in my life that have been effected so I am going to use my talents to help).

    2. The ideas I have received from this show have been very beneficial. Your “Nifty Clicks” have helped me find resources that have made it easier to implement new ideas, such as WebTV (currently in production), PR, etc. that has made my life more efficient and helped me separate from my competition even more. I am always looking for resources to make my business more efficient and profitable and this show gives me plenty of ongoing ideas to do that.

    3. I would be a good condidate for you Magical Mastermind Group for several reasons. First, I take massive action and constantly work on several projects at one time versus doing things sequentially, so I get results. I have had lots of successes and failures which allow me to share valuable experiences wth others. I will take calculated risks to try new idesa that step me outside of my comprt zone.

Second, I understand the Mastermind experience, as I run 2 myself locally, and will be a vaulauble resource to the other members unselfishly sharing tons of great ideas everyone could use in their own businesses that have worked in my own as well as others I that I help with. Sharing is key.

Third, I am willing to take constructive criticism knowing it will help me make my business even more amazing and profitable.

Fourth, I am a student of marketing which has truly helped me understand what it takes to be a success.

Fifth, I realize that you have to surround yourself with other successful people to take your own business to a higher level.

Thanks again for the opportunity to compete. I hope my response makes me a candidate that would bring value to the group through my experience, desire and positive attitude.

  31. Andrew,

I recently heard about you and your shows from Ryan Lee’s Continuity Summit. I was very impressed with your quality and dedication to the program. Very well-written and executed shows.

I would like to be considered for the Magic Mastermind spot.

    1) My business is called Cereus Women. I teach mothers how to turn their skills and talents into a successful service business. My approach is to develop products and programs that will enable them to find their passions and dreams and turn them into a business. I help them to develop the confidence and find a family/business balance that will help them to take their business to the next level.

    2) The biggest marketing idea I have learned and implemented from your show is to utilize your Ask Andrew idea. I have implemented that idea into my own ezine. I already have many questions that people have submitted to me previously. Once a month I will create an audio called Ask Kim. I followed your format, since I really like the way you answer the questions FULLY and direct others to contribute. I am posting the audio in my ezine, my blog and my podcast. I direct ezine readers to my blog so they can listen to it there and comment on the question.

I have only completed one Ask Kim session so far for my ezine readers, so I’m not sure yet what the results will be. I’m hoping that people will learn from the answers and possibly contribute to the blog by offering more suggestions. Also, the biggest impact I’m hoping to achieve is that more people will submit questions. Their questions will help me to learn what their struggles and challenges are so that I can create products and programs that will solve their problems.

    3) While my Cereus Women business is fairly new and I have much to learn about running an internet business, I have been an entrepreneur since 1995 working as a computer consultant. Much of what I have learned as a consultant can apply to running an internet business. I have a lot to contribute and offer to the Mastermind group.

However, I feel I have a lot to learn to get Cereus Women to be a huge success. I want to take my new business to new heights and this will require a lot of work. I feel the Mastermind Group would be a great way to get into the minds of other great people.

I feel I am a good candidate because I have the background to contribute and help others improve their business, but I also have so much to learn. I feel we all need to continue learning from each other to grow not only our business, but ourselves.

  32. Hi Andrew,
I’d like to be considered for a place in the Magical Mastermind Group.

    1. While one would conventionally say that I’m in the business of web design and technical consulting, I like to think I’m in the business of making my clients feel at ease with technology. I think it’s difficult for many people to feel comfortable with all the changes going on with the Internet, tools, and all that. My job, as I see it, is to provide them comfort, ideas, and solutions to make their businesses run easier, smoother, and within their budgets.

    2. The greatest lesson I’ve learned from your shows so far is that EVERYTHING is marketing and marketing is EVERYTHING. How I present myself, how I communicate, WHAT I communicate – all of it is marketing. I am cognizant, at all times, of the message I am relaying.

    3. I feel as if I have a lot of experience in business, management, leadership, and technology – and not a lot of cohesiveness tying it together into the best service for my clients. I feel as if I’m at a point where I could kick it up a notch but unsure of where to put my feet. I love communication in all forms and understanding how it works; for me, it is a great joy to relate to others, learn from them, and share knowledge. I believe this makes us all better in business and in our lives. I think this group can provide ideas, motivation, and stimulation for me to find that next toe hold in the business world.

Thank you for this offer, Andrew, and I wish everyone the best of luck!

    –Kris

  33. Nice website

  34. What a fantastic video! I’m getting ready to launch a website in a couple of months, so these tips were very helpful. I hadn’t even thought about testimonials – but I’ll make plans for that for sure. Thank you!

  35. kumarasamy says:

  36. Okay, I’m taking this one very seriously and going for it, Sir Andrew! Thanks so much for the opportunity! Take a deep breath and read on. To the rest of you fine folks: I, respectfully, ask you to indulge me – my answer will offer some tips and experiences which may help you, as well. Apologies for the length but when I engage…I ‘engage’!

QUESTION #1: I’ve been in the music business for 20 years and have run my own record label and niche-oriented online CD store for 15 years. The style of music is called ‘power pop’ – which is melodic rock ‘n roll influenced by The Beatles. I put up my first web site up and started taking orders w/ it in 1996 – tragically, there are graveyard sites that document this history of my company and other so-called ‘pioneers’. Yuck. I’ve seen a lot of changes and evolutions of internet-based commerce over the years – for myself? I made a million, lost almost a million, making it back again now! I had lots of employees and….had to lay off lots of ‘em too. That…is…a…drag. One never, ever stops learning in business and ‘the hard way’ sometimes is okay by me if I’m learning how to do it better for the next go-around. Despite being in an industry (music) everyone says is ‘toast’, my company is still standing inside the ashes of devastation and working itself into a new ‘phoenix-like’ vision for taking care of its customers in a more meaningful manner and looking to find new ones in exciting, different avenues. I’m ‘all in’.

Also, I am launching a new company in early 2010 that has developed productivity tools for right-brain creative people – inspired by working with musicians for 20 years and my own struggles. It will have both an offline and online components.

QUESTION #2: You want a list, eh? Well, you got it! I came across yr show somewhere around show #30 and after doing so, spent that morning going thru ALL past episodes. I will break this answer down into two parts – one, ideas/recommendations that have been completed as a result of information in your show and two, ones that are coming up in the future but are not fully implemented or will be.

    DONE/ACCOMPLISHED:
    1. Can’t recall the specific show but signed up for Wishlist Member and made WordPress the platform for my membership site site and even travelled to Las Vegas in April to meet w/ the WishList developers for deeper understanding of its optimal implementation, as well. Date is SET! October 21, 2009 my membersite hits(20th wedding anniversary – wanted to honor my wife there). Result? A whole new model for my business that will make it an innovator in my industry and be a possible passive income stream eventually(can you say ‘outsourcing’?). Another Result? The revelation that HTML based sites are going the way of the Dodo bird and WordPress will be hot for the next few years. I nominate WP for a Grammy, a Pulitzer – why not a Nobel Peace Prize!?

    2. Bought yr Nifty Clicks DVD (a bargain!) – The whole idea of ‘nifty clicks’ spurred me to try something (completely) different w/ my customers. Rather than just sharing weekly/bi-weekly new music info w/them, I am now sharing w/ them, life enhancement ideas and sites that will improve the quality of their lives that are not connected to ‘music’. Feedback has been excellent – there is no disconnect or limitation for a niche music company to just share music information. My customers now look to me with more trust and connection as a result of sharing these seemingly non-congruent tips. You do this already with the show, Andew but the key takeaway is small businesses should not assume that your customers only want what you have been giving them – try to share tips ‘n info that have made your life better in a sincere, empatheic manner and they will be more thankful to you for opportunity to business with you. Key Related Reference: Jay Abraham’s “Strategy Of Preeminence”, one of most important, practical and easy-to-implement concepts to grasp for small businesses. (his new book, “The Sticking Point Solution” is THE best business book of 2009, hands down, btw!) Result? A deeper, relational connection to my customers. Another result? I am going to create a low-cost info product to use as part of my irresistible offer for my member site launch connected to resources that will enhance ones’ life. (of course, there will be music stuff, too)

    3. Thank You Cards – this was a ‘duh!” moment. I used to do this, years ago – shamefully, stopped due to ‘busyness’ excuses. Just hearing about “Send Out Cards” I realized I could do this on my own and now have two different types of postcards that I send out with personal notes. One for new customers, the second one for established customers – on the handwritten card, all receive a custom downloadable link(which changes twice a month) to download more new music a surprise bonus. Feedback is palpable and now customers are looking for these from me and will set the plate for launch of membership site w/ more effectiveness. Result? A easy to way to extend the sale and logical, cross-sell after the sale with related offers on the postcard.

    4. You recommended Slide Rocket but my research led me to another program “Engage” from a company called Articulate – It’s an extention of a Web TV show, to some degree – quick ‘n easy to do, yields powerful connection of watcher to presenter and empowers them with information relevant to purchasing decision. Note: our core customers are not casual music fans but very passionate record collector geek types, which would be….me! Example of it here: http://www.notlamecustomercare.com/NewMelodicRock/BestOf2008.html

Result? Another manner in which to communicate the information I develop and share every day which really works for many(but not all) customers. Plus, they think it’s pretty darn cool and they see me as an innovator, cutting edge seller of music. No one in online music retail is doing this that I have found – and I’ve been doing it since last August.

    5. Started Mastermind Group with 3 other Colorado-based business owners who, get this, also are using or implementing WishList member. Going 3 months strong now and it is awesome! We meet once a month physically and have started a NING site for us to communicate inside of. Result? Priceless – can not put into words. This group, btw, happened as a direct result of going to Las Vegas to learn WishList Member. Turned out, out of 30 people there, 4 of us were from Colorado! It all inter-connects.

    6. You talk of it all the time but finally…..Resolved to Outsource and let go. Easier said than done but once you do, you wonder ‘what was I thinkin?!?!”. Development of membership content and design. 99 Designs for graphics is most fantastic(genius site, folks – much easier, more responsive to use than Elance). I think I have found a designer to finish my main web sites’ total rehaul and redesign – will keep you posted. Result? Time and money savings – but, more importantly, developing a team of people I will use now and forever. Also, ‘getting thing done’ and …..momentum.

    7. Use FasterAudio and am friends with its creator – speaking of, need to touch base with Mark and find out what’s he’s up to of late! Result? Huge time savings. Folks, Faster Audio is genius – if you listen to downloadable audios, once you try it, you will whine about all the hours of previously wasted time – then, after licking yr wounds, rejoice in how much you will save in the future. Now, if there was a way to speed up the streaming online videos that you can’t download, I’d really geek out!

    8. Forget what show this was, but you had a show talking about writing your own book recently(and optimizing it to sell your backend) – I wrote my first book last year(sold 1,800 copies @ $39.95 and NOT a single one on Amazon – all direct, Andrew – I have a story to share here! Hmm..maybe a product!) but it occurred me to that I have other books I can do, fairly easy. I’ve written over 10,000 reviews on my site over the years so I am repurposing them into a printed book series and adding CDs to them. Re-Purpose, Re-Direct. First one in this series is 98% done and laid out – will go to print in September. Connected to my membersite launch, of course.

    9. Bought your “Web T V Show” product (very highly recommended, folks!) and have purchased the equipment, set up studio, etc. Show is not launched – YET. Will be alongside the product launch. Buzz. However, an great idea triggered from your DVDs that is happening now: I am presently shooting custom videos messages that I send out to my best customers thanking them for their orders which let them feel more connected to me and my business…this is EASY to do and, I swear, no one is doing this inside your niche folks(certainly not mine!) – send people a quick one minute video thanking them for their order and they not only will remember you but will tell others. Here’s a Nifty Click for you Andrew and everyone – this will make this happen for you – it’s FREE. http://www.tokbox.com/

    IDEAS HAPPENING SOON:
    10. Bought your “7 Unconventional Ways To Easily Profit From Ebay” book and have resolved to get my own Ebay store up and running – this one is long overdue but is not planned until after member site launch. I stock thousands of items so it’s long overdue project. Launch date? December, 2009. Nice postcard stuffer with the book, btw, Andrew! ;-P I used it as a bookmark, too.

    11. You and others talk about it all the time and I have to get this happening. What is ‘it’? The “Irresistible Offer” . Just finished the book of the same name and I am working on “irresistible offer” ideas in the coming weeks as I do not have a proper lead generation mechanism on my existing site presently – Bad Bruce! I have lots of music and reports I’ve written which I can share – this will be part of the redesign of the entire site that happens in the fall. I would love to share this process with the Mastermind group. It’s another big project that would benefit from the talents of others outside my industry.

    12. Personal Blog launch – have one for my company but realize I need to get one for me inside my member launch strategy. I need have my Mastermind group(or put that in the plural if you pick me, Andrew!) to hold me accountable for this one, as well as other things. I can see myself pushing this one aside, honestly because of all the other work going on.

    13. Testimonials!! I must take action here – I have a folder filled with dozens of customers I’ve asked for testimonials who are just waiting to give them to me and I’ve not done it. Bad Bruce! Will do, will do, WILL do.

QUESTION #3: Well, okay. Let’s hit this question. I think I would be a wonderful, beneficial component to the Mastermind Group because my evolving passion the last few years has been discovering that what I do with my work is really about ‘helping other people’ and learning how to listen to others on a deeper level. While I’ve been all about selling music for the last 20 years, where I am taking my existing company and my new company is, at its core, about enhancing a more powerful connection with other people and providing solutions to problems. Whether it’s about having more awesome experience listening to music or finding cool, new ways to ‘get things done’, I want be part of something bigger in the lives of people I do business with – and who help me in business.

Second, the group will benefit from my frank openness to share my mis-steps & mistakes and, as importantly, my successes and continual experiments of implementing ideas – pushing them into the action sphere and seeing what works and sharing that. I *love* hearing what others are doing – as it inspires me further in my own work. Listening to others’ experiences continually inspires me to go further.

Third, ENERGY ‘n passion. I have it! It is what has driven my business for 15 years(read the reviews on my site, for examples). I just simply love marketing, love learning and sharing and love the opportunity to begin each day with the new hope of discovering something cool. Would love to share with the group, all the many resources, experiences and ideas I have implemented with selling online for 14 years and offer a sounding board and provide good counsel to others.

Also, investing in Rich Shefren’s Business Growth System and GPS programs over the last 2 years has taught me the importance of being actively engaged in the development of systemized ways of learning how to you run your business — and masterminds are a another key tool that enhances that process dramatically and can push the odds of success with various projects to your favor greatly. I ‘get’ that.

Last reason, I take action on the things I am most passionate about – family and working on my businesses. I *will* make it to Salt Lake and Florida meetings – and, if prodded, will share with the group my air-guitar prowess in celebration of whatever needs celebrating! :-D

Thanks so much again for the opportunity to possibly work alongside you and the others in group, Andrew.

  37. Elizabeth H. says:

I really enjoyed your video Even though I’m not a business major, I still enjoy learning about marketing and advertising techniques. I think your advice for business entrepreneurs are very helpful, simple and practical. I like the way you give your explanations and then several examples that better ilustrate your advice. And the Nifty Clicks! They are very helpful too! I didn’t know about that logging tool. Thanks for making it easier for us.

  38. Sorry! Missed a HTML tag in there somewhere with the above post! Lame.

  39. Nice to see the entries from Mark, Ted, Thomas, Charles, Kevin, Kim, Bruce, and Kris. Congratulations on taking action!

    Dan,
The problem I’ve found with having one password apart from security if it’s discovered, is that sites have different requirements for passwords. Most have a min length, some insist on numbers, capitals and even symbols as part of a password. Others use an email address as a password (but don’t tell you when you return). So I don’t think it’s practical to have one username and password for all sites personally. If it works for you, that’s great news.

    James,
You asked how I developed my presenting skills. Well, mostly by practice! It’s true, there’s nothing like forcing yourself to do it and then seeking feedback from people who are gonna’ be honest with you.

    David,
Thanks for your contribution about the question from Carlos, that’s great advice.

    Glen,
I can understand your comments about DirecTV and the waiting room.

    Sean,
In order to be fair to everyone, the way to submit your question is through the ‘Ask Andrew’ link at the top of the page. I select questions randomly to feature on the show, so you may be picked. Unfortunately I don’t have enough hours in the day to answer every question individually, sorry.

Again, welcome to all the new viewers!

    Regards

    Andrew

  40. This video is both humerous and informative. I will definitely be returning for the awesome tips. Thanks so much!

  41. I don’t have a business but find your show informative. The tips on what makes a good add was particularly interesting. We all take for granted that we are used to good TV productions (or what used to to be good TV) but most don’t realize that entertainment doesn’t equate to good advertisement.

  42. Competition entry form:

    1. What business are you in?
I am in the gym business industry, or so I thought was. Now I know after four years of doing all the wrong advertising, I’ve decided that I’m actually in the gym marketing business. Two years ago I met Andrew at a seminar and that’s when I realized I was in the fitness marketing business, not the fitness business. After talking to Andrew I changed everything about my website, and totally got away from what all the other gyms were doing in town. I consider myself a fitness marketer that owns a gym.
    2. What marketing ideas have I Learned and implemented from watching episodes of this show and how has it changed my business?
After watching Andrew’s show, helpmybusiness.com, from its inception until now, I’ve implemented the website ideas such as: e-mail form, attention-getting headlines, great copy, no flashy sites stuff, and have added a virtual tour on YouTube to my site, and last but not least an irresistible offer for prospects to join my e-mail list and come in for a free month of gym and tanning. Also Andrew told me to set my business apart from others I would have to do something different that the other gyms didn’t do, I thought really hard to come up with the idea to convert my gym into a 24-hour fully automated gym, and Andrew’s pointers about press releases Got my article on gym marketing into the New York Times across the country, and Got great exposure for my business. From the press release idea to the implementing of the 24-hour automated gym system, I tripled my membership from 60 members at the end of 2007 to over 350 members in march 2008 alone. So as you can see watching Andrews show has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for my business.
    3. Why should I be considered for this group?
I have a passion for marketing, listening, and learning. These three go hand-in-hand and I want to prove myself that I can be the best fitness marketer out there. And I have so many great ideas and I think along the same lines as Andrew. I would like to bring my ideas to a group of like-minded individuals who don’t mind working hard and having fun to. I want to write books on fitness marketing, and already have a blog on fitness marketing at http://www.fitnessmarketing.tv, my hope is to make this site into a membership site where I can put all the ideas I learned out there for others to make their business grow like mine has, and continues to grow. I want to take my passion for fitness, marketing and copywriting to the next level by being in the company of other excellent minds and marketers. I know being in a group like that would help me and the others tremendously.
P.S. Andrew, I hope to meet you again soon to be able to tell you what you have done for my business and my life when you took a few moments like you did at the seminar to give me ideas that help me take my business and my life where it is today.
Thank you, Shannon Cook , fitness marketer / gym owner

  43. This was a great video! I don’t have a business of my own, but my sister does, and she has been having some trouble with advertising. She always ends up with the same customers each week, very steady, but I think your question, “Who else could use my services?” would be a very helpful thought for her to contemplate. Every point you made and example you used was very interesting and informative. Thank you!

  44. I hope people were paying attention not only to what you said, but what you did throughout the video–there were a lot of great examples for entrepreneurs hidden in plain sight. For example, even the shirt you were wearing is for sale! Each of the show sponsors you mentioned were offering a free trial or guide for their service to help gain new customers. Finally, by answering emails and holding a contest, you’re engaging your readers and encouraging them to keep coming back for more. Thanks for the great video!

  45. I pretty dumb in all this stuff. But trying to learn.Marketing/advertising looks easy but its very difficult actually.Internet marketing require lot of patience and skill.I guess few things we do learn by experience only.

  46. Lore Roman says:

The show it’s very nice, it’s very informative and once you start to play it you can not stop it. He has very good ideas, some of those where already there but I haven’t seen them cleary and Andrew clarify them for me.
His examples are very good described and explained. It’s a very helpful tool for everybody.

  47. AVJEET KUMAR says:

IT A WONDERFUL VIDEO AND OF COURSE IT HAD A GREAT AMOUNT OF EXAMPLES ENTREPRENEURS. THIS WAS REALLY VERY HELPFUL FOR THEM. FOR EXAMPLE, EVEN THE SHIRT YOU ARE WEARING IS FOR SALE. THE SPONSORS YOU HAVE MENTIONED WERE OFFERING A FREE TRIAL FOR THEIR SERVICE TO HELP GAIN NEW CUSTOMERS AND THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL, FOR THE FIRMS AND ALSO FOR THE CONSUMERS.ALSO , BY KEEPING DIFFERENT CONTESTS YOU ARE MAKING LISTENERS TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE PROGRAM.

  48. I hadn’t ever thought of adding testimonials to my blog, but that’s a great idea! I sell on a community arts & crafts website, and my feedback rating is there, as well as comments that people leave about items they’ve purchased from me… but it would be a really smart idea to add some of the good ones to my blog, since I try to use my blog as an outside traffic source. Thanks for the tip, you always have great and easy ideas here!

  49. Another great show! This one seemed much longer than usual (in a good way!)

  50. I found your segment regarding Rosetta Stone’s “fatal flaw” right on target. I have one version of the Rosetta Stone, but I wondered why they didn’t have comments from customers on the box. They claim that lots of companies use it, but you don’t hear a peep out of those companies.

I was also amazed about how well AEG came out in the situation regarding Michael Jackson. This also goes to show that you can make a profit off of almost anything.

  51. Tracy Murray says:

Great information! This was my first time to your site and was excited and encouraged about the suggestions when advertising via television commercials. Having worked in a development department for an educational institution, the 4 steps given are pivotal when reaching out with a product or service. Knowing who you are and what it is that you have to offer is key. Next, get out of the box you have been sitting in and start thinking outside of the box.

  52. I’d love to hear what you have to say about the last move by Amazon, when the company deleted books from their customers without their consent.
By the way, excellent show. I’ve been busy watching all of them recenly.

  53. Very informative, the Roboform website is extremely helpful. This show makes learning marketing intriguing! Awesome.

  54. As a budding entrepreneur and student i must say i found your video highly informative and captivating. This has given me a different perspective to my thinking and my ideas of starting a business. thanks!

  55. Love the show! You turn concepts that were difficult and took weeks to learn in class, into interesting ideas that were easily understandable in a matter of minutes. Great information from the links and suggestions as well. Awesome shirt as well, with good advice!

  56. I am a owner of a small entertainment company called Vivo Vero entertainment. We are an event production company. We come up with event ideas, host the events, and sell advertising to business during the events.

As I just became a viewer of this pod cast. I have only learn a couple things. First, about adding testimonials to be my business. Second, I have sent a survey out to my contacts to ask them why they use my services and what they would like to see improved. I want them to fell like they have more say and also i can slightly adjust myself to the audience that i am catering to instead of trying to go about it my own way.

I bring three things to every table that i sit. a nifty acronym that i use to explain thi sis being TRU to myself, which stands for Traditional, Reliable, and Unique. Traditional helps me realize my need to be professional with personal presentation. Reliable stands for the self discipline that I have gained during my service in the Air Force. Unique comes from my youth that spurs creative ideas and gives me an ability to mold myself into any situation.

  57. Robert J Frederick says:

Very nice video, great work, surely will help me much on my way to be a good businessman one day. Long and detailed video, will watch it again to catch up the details, awesome work.

  58. This was my first time viewing this show, and while I am not currently an entrepeneur, I found it’s contents both useful and helpful. After retirement I have plans of owning a business of my own and any information that can help to prepare me is very much appreciated. I even liked the format of the show.

  59. Christoph S. says:

    Hi Andrew,
great show as always, love it, well I am your man for the MMG, I tell you why :)

I run a martial arts dojo and I am M.D., this are two areas where it is not really allowed to advertise. First in the martial arts one who makes serios business doesnt advertise in the clasical way, and as M.D. it is forbitten by law.

So I have to do marketing without advertising, and thats why I like your quote “M. is everything and M is everything”

So I am curently watching all your episodes and write down all your ideas and see how I can implement them in my work.

thats it :) so if you need a M.D. on board of your group let me know.

    c.

  60. Hi – This video was entertaining, and informative. I will surely be looking here again as I think about pursuing one of my many business ideas

  61. Monica Kelsie says:

Hey Andrew. This was my first time viewing your show. The video was interesting. You provided a lot of information. I am interested in viewing more of your videos. I will be visiting this site again.

  62. Monica Kelsie says:

Hi Andrew. I have viewed this particular video show twice. Marketing and advertising skills are what I lack in. I appreciate the information. Also, adding testimonies is a great idea!

  63. This was really informative, interesting and enjoyable to watch. There are some really valuable tips in there that anyone can use. I learned a lot from the video and the best part is that it was fun. I like the’ upbeat attitude and ebullient personality. Very cool!

  64. Thank you Andrew,

You always have such good information that is very helpful with marketing. It is good to come and get more help every week. Thank you so much.

    Dan and Deanna “Marketing Unscrambled”

  65. Mikey OXbig says:

Testimonials are often undermined when advertising a product. As a consumer it is one of the most important things I look for before purchasing a product or a service. It acts as a reference on the businesses resume.

  66. It is interesting while doing this task. Thank you for providing lot of information. I learned a lot. Which is very useful to the people. Education and business information very helpful to the students and also people.

  67. Tariq Ismail says:

This was a really great video, I really enjoyed it and I will definitely be back for more. This nifty clicks website looks awesome I can’t wait to check it out! While I don’t have a business of my own right now, I was looking into starting one and this has certainly made the idea of starting one easier to think of.
    Thanks!
    Oh yea, congrats Tony :P

  68. This is my first time to catch you online. This video has some great ideas and, Andrew, you are quite engaging as a host.

    #1 Educational Technology Consulting/Video Production
#2 I have tried include more testimonials in my online marketing
#3 While I new to running my own business, I think I bring a considerable amount of energy and experience to my business.

I particularly liked the urging of the host to the viewers to use testimonials in their product advertisements. Your advice on to produce an effective TV commercial was very insightful and helped me focus on how to approach projects like this.

And I will absolutely check out Roboform.

  69. This is a great show. The presenter is charismatic and humourous. I enjoyed the various portions of the show, especially the “Nifty Click” segment. I will be visiting the recommended website soon, as it appears to solve a problem that I, as well as most other people, probably have these days: how to manage all the various logins and passwords required to live in a digital world.

Again, well done – I will be back for more!

  70. Spencer Costello says:

This is a great video, i have yet to start my business but i been think about it and this will defiantly help me get started on it thxs

  71. hi its a great video make the right ideas spring through my mind.thanks:)

  72. I love this site! I’m brand new to internet marketing. I’ve just about finished creating my online, family magazine, and now I’m concentrating on how to advertise it.

I hadn’t thought of joining the social sites to give my website exposure, but when Twitter was mentioned here, a light suddenly came on in my head. Social sites are probably a great place to get to know people and have them get to know you and what you do.

Thanks to this site, I’m going to start doing that right away! I’m also going to keep coming back here, for more hints, every chance I get.

  73. Robyn Kelly says:

I am trying to start a small business of my own since retiring in February and got some very interesting thoughts from this video. Thanks!

  74. J.R. Lewis says:

Very interesting show. Gave some very helpful ideas and insights. I like the informal yet professional feel to the video.

  75. I would really like to start internet marketing where I am unable to get the information on how to start. But this video has given lot of information about internet marketing. This information is very helpful for new entrepreneurs. So, currently I am watching all your episodes which is very helpful and informative.

  76. Sarah Frood says:

A video that gives you alot of information but the format is cheesy a unbelievable. I didn’t find it helpful as I think it has the feel of ‘get rich quick’ even though it is not. It is quite interesting to find the out about the different resources used for the show but think the format could be more interesting.

  77. Great show ! It is very interesting and informative about AEG and
many other things. Keep up the good work.

  78. Wow – a great show!
Me and my friend are just starting our own business, and these videos are really encouraging, and give excellent advice in such an interesting format!
I’ve just started watching the archives, and also started looking around niftyclicks.com. I am definitely going to refer friends to this show, and will soon address a few questions to the presenter. Invaluable resource for starting enterpreneurs!

  79. Very nice video for people who are planing to start their own business like me. For starting an online business this is a Must watch video.

  80. 1. What business are you in? Software developement and consulting.

    2. What marketing ideas have you learned and implemented from watching the show, and what have the results been?
After a client pays the invoice, I send them a DVD of the source code they had me do. I now use a lightscribe dvd burner to imprint my website and phone number. Thus, any other people who look at their DVD will also have my info. This idea comes from the shipping boxes with the company’s name on it (like Amazon and Lands End)

    3. Why are you a good candidate for the Magical Mastermind Experience over the next 12 months?
I would like to udnerstand how to grow my business and take it to the next level of hiring compentent contractrors or employees while maintaining a good quality servcie to my customers. Since practically of my business is word of mouth, I would like to better understand business growth in how it relates to marketing.

I have been doing consulting since 2000 and I have been running my own business since 2002. I am quite skilled at what I do as well as managing many acitivities with work and home (I have 8 children), so I definitly understand different needs for different people at different times.

Thank you for your consideration. And as always, it is a pleasure watching your show. thank you for all the advice.

    Sicnerely,
    Robert

Testimonial: Robert Wallace is agreat candidate
    -RWallace of San Antonio

Act Now!: Robert Wallace will only be here for a few decades and there is a limited quantity!

  81. Seth Rogan says:

I love the fact that (1) you are hilarious and (2) you really seem to understand the problems that are faced by small business owners. Thank you so much!

  82. Hi Andrew! Really enjoyed finding this resource. I’m a 20 year veteran in the marketing world, but still enjoyed (and needed!) the reminders about the basics such as grabbing attention, providing testimonials and making an irresistible offer… Good advice — thank you!
    Lisa in LA

  83. I thought Andrew was easy to listen to and a pleasant presenter. Plenty of good tips for marketing a business, remembering many passwords, and expanding a small business. If I were to start a business I would definately return to this website for help.

  84. Its a small world we live in, but I noticed that the video contained a image that was also submitted by its owner, LuxMaxArt, to the site Scribed, at the CC user group I maintain there. Its the image of the gold stick figure holding a trophy. http://www.scribd.com/LuMaxArt

This is the first episode that I have see from Andrew. Good work and very well produced! I’ll likely go back and see other episodes.

    -lmp3

  85. 1. What business are you in?
Reseller of electronics to retailers, such as bill counters, coin sorters, vending machines, etc.

    2. What marketing ideas have you learned and implemented from watching the show, and what have the results been?
Over and over again… the idea of standing out from my competitor by just a slight margin (“…do it a little better…”) helps me to focus on what I NEED to do to surpass my next closest competitor instead of wasting my time doing a bunch of theoretical marketing that MAY result in a market share jump. My first success was on eBay, becoming #2 in my competitive B2B category in monthly sales by applying multiple HMBS techniques to stand out from my competitors… within one year (and with ease, I might add). It’s been great! Capitalizing on this success, my other sites have also seen growth rates of 30-50% annually while becoming more visible and trustworthy to my potential clients with strong benefit statements to help conversion.

    3. Why are you a good candidate for the Magical Mastermind Experience over the next 12 months?
Given the results I’ve seen across my sites, I am looking to step up to the next level and really stand out from my competitors while entering new markets I’ve identified and acquiring market share from my new competitors. Keep in mind, I’ve used no PPC or social media marketing to any of the above mentioned sites and realized growth that allowed me to become full-time within 18 months — without any coaching or outsourcing.
From a mastermind perspective, I can contribute substantial eBay fixed-price experience, have flexible availability for travel and meeting, and I’ve found I work best within small ‘think tank’ groups that apply and test various marketing methods — giving back just as much as I learn from sharing and collaborating.

  86. 1) I provide services to singers and voice talent.
    2) Your show has been an amazing inspiration to me from tips for my site to spurring new marketing ideas. Your candid delivery and great content has helped me realize that my desire to serve my clients really can be monetized.
    3) In the next 12 months I will either sink or swim. After a life threatening illness and the loss of my job, your show has helped me not to give up but instead, build my own business around my current situation. Thanks to the information you’ve given me, I already have 12 products in development, a business plan for the next year and four complete web show scripts ready to go into production. I am expanding my services from one on one to a web based audience. I have soaked up everything you’ve been saying but other training is just not in my budget. I am so ready to know more and I know the training you’re offering would completely catapult my efforts into a more successful future.
