Episode #44 – In the midst of a recession comes a story that’ll warm your heart. A restaurant owner in London has scrapped the prices on the menu, to let the customers decide what they want to move. Some call it stupid, I call it smart, and I’ll tell you why in this episode.
Many people wonder whether it’s wise or even feasible to promote a local business online. After all, it might seem like trying to crack a nut with a sledgehammer, right? Well, you’d be surprised what you can do online to get new customers for your business, even if it only serves a very small local area. I’ll give you some resources that’ll help, too.
This week’s nifty web resource is an amazing directory of millions of free books and articles, all current since the 1990′s. I’m confident that this one’ll be new to you.
I took my parents to Santa Fe for a few days recently and we discovered Cafe Pasqual’s, a phenomenal restaurant, a real gem of a find. There’s a couple of big lessons that any business can learn from this innovative restaurant, watch the episode to find out what they are.
During this episode I make an irresistible offer for you to acquire my new eBay book: ’7 Unconventional Ways to Profit from eBay’ – it’s hot off the press and just waiting for you to ge…

Great show again Locky.
I am also pleased that you have changed the intro from the harsh pictures and sounds of people screaming ( I always used to mute that bit ), now it seem much more civilised and calm.
Question: I would liek to know how you get access to access to the SMB market? What do they read? What wesbites do they look at? How can I get access to them?
Cheers
Tony

Hi,
Great episode! A lot of valuable content that I need to stop procrastinating about and put to use!
As Duke mentions, a couple of your links are muddled up though.
Would it be possible to get a copy of your eBay book in England this week?? If you set a shipping cost and then offered the opportunity for me to give a donation for the price of the book perhaps?
Thanks,
Oliver

Hi,
The link is fixed now – just click on the ‘donate’ button to grab the new eBay book, and enter what you’d like to pay for the book and shipping. Then enter your contact details and shipping address.

Andrew

Hi Andrew
The DONATE link only lead me to the paypal home page, could you fix it please?
Could you offer a 1-month free to test drive your Microwave Marketing program just like your “The Renegade Auction Seller Insider” Newsletter ?

Hey Andrew awesom show today! Especially the part where you answered my question! Looking forward to Microwave Marketing

i like the idea of letting customers choose how much to pay… but not enough to implement it myself.

Andrew – HELP, my business sucks too, but that is another story. I tried to click the donate button, I was taken to my PayPal log on page, but then nowhere to make an offer.
I do love your show (and information) and watch every episode.
Thanks
Phil

Sorry about the link not working folks. PayPal must have changed something behind the scenes – it was working, then it didn’t. I’ve been travelling to Yanik Silver’s seminar in Washington DC, so I didn’t see there was an issue until this morning.
It works again now and I’d love to send you the new eBay book.

Hey Andrew!
I am a young entrepreneur just learning about the business word.
Last night I downloaded all of your shows to my iTouch and watched them all! I like how your laid back and do not get too serious, but make it a fun learning experience as well.
Also, I recently came accross an offer that windows live is doing. You can get a free domain and free hosting for a year! Check it out here:
I thought this might be good to some viewers who have yet made a website.
Once again, I love you show. Keep it up
Max

Hi Andrew – why were my comments deleted? I hope i didn’t offend you by pointing out the link wasn’t working….:-(
February 21st, 2009 at 5:47 am
Hi Andrew – once again thank you for an excellent show.
I noticed your book offer was only valid in The US – can you give me a price for Australian residents such as myself?
Maybe a package deal on both your Ebay books as I’d be interested in purchasing them together.
Cheers.

Mark,
The new book will be available on Amazon.com in a couple of weeks time, and later in bookstores, but for now use the donate link on this page and we’ll send it out for you
Tammy,
No offense taken whatsoever – now that’s its fixed there’s no need for superfluous comments!
Phil,
Glad you like the show!
Curtis,
Be bold! You’ll never know if something works if you don’t try it. You’re in control of your business.
Steve,
Thanks for asking the question, and I’m glad to help. Enjoy your Microwave Marketing package – it’s on its way to you.
Jay,
Great suggestion, thank you. I’ll get something put together to offer a free test drive of Microwave Marketing, sure.
Oliver,
Since you took the trouble to ask, go ahead and make a donation and we’ll send the book to England for you.
Tony,
You asked about how to reach the SMB market. In my opinion businesses don’t buy anything, people do. And people are people regardless of what business they work for or in. The ‘reaching’ them part is a slightly different aspect. You’re on the right track with the questions you asked but those are not questions I can answer for you, because you need to know more specifics about the target audience first. What’s the age range? Mainly male or female? Where do they live? And so on. Those are questions to ask as a starting point, then expand on that. SMB is a label that really doesn’t mean anything because it’s so general and all encompassing. I hope that makes sense to you.
Regards
Andrew

Hi Andrew!
Long time watcher, first time poster.
I’m also from Australia and would love to get a copy of your new book. I have your eBay exposed book and found that to be great so I’m really looking forward to this one. Is there any way it’s available to us Aussies?
February 21st, 2009 at 4:25 pm
Hi Nancy,
Ah, so I finally convinced you to post a comment, eh?! Sure, use the link on this page and give whatever you think is fair for the book and the very very long shipping distance all the way around the other side of the world, passing through the hands of 17 countries, including dirt poor aborigines, 12 year old children in local post office sweat shops, and across the blazing ‘death valley’ Australian outback to make it to your home. But it’s completely up to you what you pay, I won’t influence you on that.
Regards
Andrew

Hahahaha, that’s good to hear, with no influence at all! Haha. Thanks Andrew!
Now I feel like a doofus, but I didn’t actually realise you could just post, I thought you’d have to go through all of this creating of an account etc. I would have posted sooner if I had have known it was so easy! (Maybe you could mention this when you mention the blog on your show? I’m sure there are others like me :$)

Nancy

Hi Andrew, is it possible for me to use the link to get the book sent to the UK too please?
Agree with the others that it was a good show this week. Most interesting was the pay what you like restaurant as I started a new web site in the last month doing just that for my wedding photography business. But response has been few and far between, I never thought of doing a press release, and to be honest, didn’t think the press would want to cover the story.
Thanks for the shows

HI Andrew
You mention in this episode around 7:00 minute into the show that in your VERY FIRST issue of MIcrowave Marketing contain more than 100 websites that I can post ad for FREE locally.
I have a local tutoring business and want promote it locally online. It would be extremely helpful to have these website so I can promote my business online.
How can I get my hand on these 100 websites? ( Or how can I get my hand on that issue of Microwave Marketing?)

Andrew,
This is a really great site, I’ve been a little down lately about my business just feeling that I have no real direction.
I’ve watched a few videos & am already inspired. Have jotted down a “to do” list.
I have some work to do on my website so I won’t list it just yet.
Thank you so much for the down to earth, uncomplicated techniques! And for helping me to re-focus my concepts & stretch myself with simple ideas.
Warmly, Nada

Celeste,
Glad you liked the idea, it takes courage to use it but whenever I’ve used it I’ve gained many more customers and always profited.
Mike,
Thanks for your kind words. How did you hear about the show? Did you know I used to manage Paul Daniels? Those were fun times, Paul was a real inspiration to me.
Nada,
Where are you from? I was trying to figure out what nationality that name comes from! A lot of people have been feeling down, it’s understandable, but you absolutely can turn your business around, no question about it. Remain positive, work smart, and associate with other like minded entrepreneurs (like those on this site
