Episode #32 – Airline Safety, How to Sell in a Crowded Marketplace, Internet Marketing News and a BIG Marketing Lesson from B&H Photo Video in NYC
November 25, 2008NOTE: If you haven’t watched it yet, please view this great video (it’s free) with tips to help your business: FlipMyBusiness.com
Also, I know the pop-up ads are annoying – just click on the ‘x’ to close them. I’m working on trying to get these removed for you – they’re nothing to do with me, they’re displayed by Viddler.
Episode #32 – I’m back from England now, and off to Dubai to present a couple of speeches there. First time in that city, so should be interesting. We’re going into the dessert to spend the night in a Bedouin camp, there’s skiing INSIDE, a look at the palm and world islands, and a lot more.
In this week’s episode, I talk about airlines AGAIN. They deserve it. I can’t believe the ridiculous policies they’re implementing, can you? I show a new airline safety briefing video that I think you’ll find interesting…
There’s a great question that a lot of business owners will be able to relate to – how do you sell in a crowded marketplace if you’re surrounded by similar businesses? I give a couple of practical suggestions of things you can do to stand out from the crowd.
The Nifty Click web resource is for you if you like keeping track of what’s new in Internet Marketing but you don’t want to be bombarded by emails about the same offer from 27 different people at the same time!
B&H Photo Video are the subject in our BIG marketing lesson. They’re an innovative company based in New York City. They sell everything related to computers and electronics, for hobbyists and professionals. Although they’re a big company, you can still benefit from something they do that’s very simple – yet few businesses do it.

Wow, I got a lot out of this one…my implementation will be slow because of the time of year, but Episode 32 will be bookmarked.
When I read this comment back to myself, it sounds sarcastic, but it is not meant that way. I really did learn a lot. Thanks Andrew. Gobble gobble.

B&H Helpful? Are you on crack? I am a professional video broadcast company and have bought from B&H many times. They lack knowledge and are rude if you try to return something. Great plug for B&H but bad advice. Do your homework…

Marty:
We appreciate you’ve bought from us “…many times…” and regret we’ve somehow left you with the misapprehension any of our sales or customer service people are or would be discourteous. As far as product knowledge — no other retailer in our industry devotes the time, expense or resources to continual employee training B&H does. No one can be an expert on every item we sell, but our efforts in this area are continual.

Marty,
I have done my homework, and what I said was 100% accurate according to my experience.
I don’t dispute what you say is true in your case, but over many years mine has been different, and you’ll find a lot more positive comments about B&H than negative ones, I assure you.
I’ve always found them to be a great company to deal with, and I’ve never had any problems returning any item to them. On the contrary it’s been professionally handled all the way.
Regards
Andrew
