Right, now it’s time for business. Disney have made a radical move for 2009 with their U.S. theme parks Disnelyand in California and Disney World in Florida. I’ll spill the beans at the start of the episode.
This week’s viewer question is about how to record audio then have it transcribed, a useful process for all business owners and entrepreneurs to know about.
Your Nifty Click fix will be granted again with a brilliant way to search ALL of CraigsList. I show you my ideas for using this nifty tool, let me know your thoughts and ideas about it on the blog.
The BIG marketing lesson comes from Gramercy Tavern, New York City’s #1 restaurant. I had the pleasure of eating there last week and it was absolutely phenomenal. Not aloof and stuff like so many high-end restaurants, it had the perfect ambiance and superb service. The marketing principle I reveal comes from the book ‘Setting the Table’ which I highly recommend. It’s written by the owner of Gramercy Tavern, Danny Meyer. Do yourself a favor and grab the book yourself, it’s packed with useful ideas that any business can benefit from.

Hi Andrew,
Todays show was awesome!!! The value of the content from your “studio audience” more than covers the cost of your show.
Seriously though, I’m very excited to try out the Google Content Network feature (which I had never heard of before). Great tip!
One other 100% FREE way to get site traffic is to submit press releases. As you already know, this worked great for me when I won the Magical Marketing Experience (check out Past Episodes #14, #16 and #19). I created a quick 2-page press release and sumbitted it to all the local media outlets via fax or e-mail. Within a few days, I had a short segment about the contest on a local TV news broadcast, as well as a front-page article in our local newspaper. We both received lots of free publicity and I’m sure it led to some new subscribers to your show. I know that I received a bunch of calls and e-mails from people that saw the clip or read the article. Also, I just learned that a “blurb” will appear in the next edition of my University Alumni Magazine (The University of Toledo). It’s the press release that just keeps on giving!
Thanks again for the great show!
Take care,
Pete

It’ amazes me how you are able to cram so much valuable info into such a short period of time…and in such an entertaining way.
Keep up the good fight and I’ll look forward to the next one.

Great show Andrew! Terrific info and the guests were great.
I worked in restaurants before becoming a full time speaker/entertainer. The “attitude” concept is right on. For a funny version of another perspective on this, check out the bottom left short video clip on this page:

hey Andrew, great episode, i enjoyed the part when you ask your guests to give feedback to the marketing question.
I have a question, i started a blog on health, i also started some MLM too.
For my blog, i post almost daily a new post on an article.
my question, when is it ok for me to link my website for the mlm (healthy chocolate) to my blog (for the relevant posts)

Tom,
You’ll need to judge the right time. Try to avoid blatant ads, rather look for a logical tie-in with some news items or interesting research, then it’s more acceptable to viewers, and more people are likely to take an interest.

Hi,
Thanks for the show! The disney-land offer is actually common practice here in Europe, where a lot of amusement parks offer such bonuses. I guess the big lesson here is to get the best from your competition…

The suggestion to “go post comments on other folks blogs” is weakened (if not invalidated) by the fact that the link will be marked as “no-follow”, see:
http://neukadye.com/blog/2008/10/23/comment-spam-who-gets-spammed/
Heck, even this link above is marked as such this by your system.

Adam,
I appreciate the comment, but I’ve seen plenty of evidence that links on blogs still matter. Having said that, if you have new evidence from a reliable source, I’d love to see it.
Also, the way to post a link is in the ‘website’ field when you post a comment, not in the comment field.

I agree that getting one’s name out in a public forum (e.g. well known blog) for a topic is a good way to get noticed/get some traffic. I was just correcting that the “SEO benefits” of the link are nothing.
Ask Google:
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2005/01/preventing-comment-spam.html
and anyway, if I didn’t think comment spam had some merit, maybe I’d not put these links in here.
http://neukadye.com/blog/2008/10/23/comment-spam-who-gets-spammed/
BTW: Your system (and likely all) adds nofollow to both the commenter’s site and any links in the content.
P.S. I still enjoyed your show. Forgive me for not starting with that.

Hi, Andrew. Great show with interesting ideas. You mentioned a book by the owner of Gramercy Tavern in New York. Well, I recently finished a book about that corporation and other small business; it’s called ‘Small Giants’ by Bo Burlingham. I found the book very informative and easy to ready. Hope you enjoy it (if you haven’t already).
Thanks,
PJ

You had mentioned transcription services on your show and I just wanted to share information about our transcription service which will allow you to use digital recorder, cell phones, or any other recording device to record your audio and send it to us for transcription. Relatively inexpensive, fast and accurate. Check us out at http://www.scribe4you.com

I thought your show was interesting. A peson on LinkedIn had a link to it on their profile page. Transcription Ideas that you used in your title is actually the name of my blog. So, that caught my eye, of course. I think your show was very interesting in ideas to market. I’ll pass it along to others.

Gramercy Tavern consistently ranked at top warm, wonderful comfort food.It is great in winter in Gramercy Park, one of my favorite neighborhoods. Its site was under construction.American cooking relies heavily on seasonal ingredients and is presented in simple refinement in three comfortable, elegant dining rooms. Both an a al carte and a 3-course fixed price menu are available at lunch, and a 3-course fixed price menu for dinner, as well as three special chef’s tasting menus.
