Episode #15 - Crazy Web 2.0 Company Names, Promoting a new Website, Adding Audio to a Website, Blendtec Will it Blend Marketing Lesson

Episode #15 - First things first. You can see I’m wearing a nifty t-shirt I had designed for the show. If you’d like to grab one, they’ll be available soon.
What is going on with web 2.0 company names? It seems as though the view is ‘the silier the better.’ Well, there’s one rather big snag. people can’t spell these names, and if they can’t spell ‘em, they’re not going to visit, are they?!
The viewer question this week is about how to promote a new website. Learn from the principles I suggest, because they can be applied to all kinds of businesses.
This week’s nifty click is a tool that enables you to add audio to a website very easily. It’s the best way I’ve come across so far, and it’s inexpensive too.
The big marketing lesson comes from Blendtec, a company that makes blenders. Pretty dull product, but they’ve done an amazing job at making the marketing entertaining and interesting. As a result their business has been revolutionized. Smart marketers, and a great product.
I reminded you in this episode that there’s still chance to join me on our magical marketing experience adventure in Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida on August 19th - 21st, 2008. Just follow the instructions and submit a video to YouTube. Record 30 to 60 seconds of yourself letting me know what you like best about this show, or even better, how it’s helped your business directly.
Again, as a reminder, post the video to YouTube (it’s very easy), copy the URL of the video page, and send it to me at: comp@helpmybusiness.com.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for another great episode. Crazy Blendtec videos!
Yes, some company names are mad but I guess they are trying to be original, different and catchy. The element of surprise.
I am actually checking out Zenbe now.
By the way - can you recommend a good email service that is:
-online
-allows customised “from” addresses that match my domain
-allows consolidation of email addresses
Now, Gmail has all of this APART that they insert the REAL gmail sender in the email header, which is iften revealed in many email clients. We do not want that. Does not look professional.
What do you use, as I presume you must have a number of different email addresses? Do you check each one separately? Or consolidate?
Until next week!

Great episode, as usual. Don’t forget to send emails notifying of new additions - the time flies and I missed a couple weeks w/o your reminders.
Hope you’re well

Hi Andrew,
There is no “SHARE THIS” button above your head.

Jini,
If you view the video on the home page, you’ll see the ‘Share this’ button above the video. It doesn’t appear when you click through to view the post on it’s own page, I hope that makes sense.
Regards
Andrew

I agree, companies should use names that we can actually find! That was a great video with a lot of useful advise.
