  1. Nice job this week Andrew. I used to have to work with Car Dealerships everyday when I offered automotive graphics as my occupation. The sales people make themselves look like greese balls as soon as you pull into their parking spaces. Every time I drove up to a dealership, I would have to run from my car door to the front door as quickly as possible; dodging the twelve sales men waiting to pounce. What a nightmare!
Thankfully I don’t have to deal with that any more.
I really enjoyed the video and the tips. I’m always trying to find a way to implement some of your tips. I’m certain that they will work!
    Thanks again!

  2. Hi Andrew,

Another great episode. Thanks for the TubeMogul link, it looks very useful and we’ll definitely be using it. Looking forward to next wek!

  3. Hi Nick,

I’ve had that exact same experience, it’s like vultures sweeping in for the kill. I’ve seen as many as 8 or 10 of them standing around, they see me drive in and can’t wait for me to get out of the car so they can pounce. I feel sorry for the few good guys in that industry because they’re all tarred with the same brush.

  4. The show today reminded me to tell everyone watching to NEVER buy a car at Mercedes Benz of Tampa Bay. I’ve been there and will NEVER go back. Grade A scumbags.

  5. Hi Andrew

Nice videos. Can you please tell me what camera and editing software do you use?

    Regards

  6. i was very entertained by your comparison of getting a root canal and buying a new car

  7. Andrew,

    Great video.

    I bought a car yesterday…somewhat painful.

I went to local “FarMax” website to check everything out ahead of time. When I got there to check out the cars in detail, the first thing that happens is they force you to walk through their showroom by fencing off the lot. The first “vulture” we met was very young. He showed us the first car we were interested in. On the test drive, I asked two simple questions (front or rear wheel drive, and does this car have heated seats). He could not answer either of them! When we got back to “FarMax” I politely told him we did not need his services and went to speak to the manager. The manager’s explanation was, “we sell every make and model of automobile so our ‘consultants’ cannot know about all the vehicles.” The manager did not even know about the car we drove. He put us back with the original consultant. So, I lowered my expectations–I know, it was stupid to do so. We look at several more autos, spending a total of 3 hrs., finding out it was the consultants 2nd day on the job. Ugh! It was hot and difficult process, but we thougt we would get the advertised experience of “how auto buying should be”; we were focused on price.

Well, we told the manager we had to think about the “deal” they offered. It wasn’t too bad, but just not what we hoped.

So, while we were thinking about it, we went to a new-car dealer that sold the brand we were looking at over at “FarMax.” Anyway, we found three cars of interest; went back the next day and had a great experience…believe it or not. We went in, test drove two cars, had time alone to talk (my wife and I), were not pressed in any way and ended up buying. We were treated respectfully, had a sales lady that was knowledgable of the product and actually informed us of the car’s features, etc., instead of trying to just get us to buy. It made us want to buy, and buy from her.

I still think most car dealers are sadistic, just glad we found one that wasn’t…at least for us.

    Thanks for all your info.

  8. Steve:

Thanks for the feedback. Your experience is yet another one that proves the auto industry is in desperate need of help. They have such a bad reputation yet they’re not willing to do anything to change it. I’m so glad you found a legitimate company in the end.

    Andrew
